Initial Psychiatric Evaluation
This initial psychiatric evaluation includes a comprehensive assessment of the clients’ current symptoms, past medical and mental health history, and current life circumstances. Together, we will establish a diagnosis and treatment plan for individualized care.
Understanding your current condition is the first step towards a healthy approach to helping you. Dr. Charlene Whitaker-Brown, a doctoral-prepared Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner will conduct an in-depth assessment to gather detailed information about your current symptoms. Our goal here is to understand how these symptoms interfere with your ability to function effectively in your personal, professional, or academic life. In addition, we want to determine whether other medical conditions may be contributing to the presenting symptoms. It is important that we learn about current and past medications you may have tried or other treatments you may be receiving for non-psychiatric illnesses. And, because psychiatric illness tends to run in families, a detailed family history will always be a part of our initial evaluation.
Follow Up/Medication Management/Pharmacotherapy
Follow up appointments will include reviewing of current symptoms, medication management, education and brief psychotherapy.
Not Treated:
Primary Cluster B Personalities, dissociative identity disorder, moderate/severe autism disability evaluations or workman’s compensation assessments.

We are an in-network provider. We take the following insurances: BlueCross BlueShield North Carolina, BCBS NC, Cigna, Evernorth, Medicare, Aetna, Optum, UnitedHealthcare UHC/UBH.
This practice cannot take patients with Medicaid.
